In this tutorial you will edit a member from the admin in BuddyNext. It is how you fix a name, a photo or a profile field when a member cannot do it themselves. You need BuddyNext, the free plugin, and a WordPress administrator account. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Find the member. Change the photo or cover. Change the account details. Edit the profile fields. Then save the whole page. Step one. Find the member. In your WordPress admin, open BuddyNext, then Members, then Directory. Search for the member, and click Edit on their row. View, beside it, opens their public profile in a new tab instead. Step two. Change the photo or cover. The edit screen opens on the Account tab. Under Profile photo, choose a new file, or tick Remove current photo. A photo can be up to two megabytes. Cover photo works the same way, with a limit of five megabytes. Step three. Change the account details. Under Account are the Display name, the Email address, and the WordPress Role. Profile URL slug is the last part of the address of their profile. It must be unique. An email or a slug that another member already uses is refused. Step four. Edit the profile fields. Beside Account, there is one tab for each group of profile fields. Click a tab to open it. Every field in the group is here, with the same kind of box the member has on their own Edit Profile screen. You change what a field says. You do not change who can see it. That stays the member's choice. Step five. Save the whole page. Click Save changes at the foot of the screen. It saves every tab at once, not only the one you are on. The whole form is checked before anything is written. If a profile field is refused, such as a web address that is not valid, nothing is saved, including the account details. Fix the field and save again. A required field that the member left empty does not stop you. That is all five. The member found, the photo and cover covered, the account details changed, the profile fields edited, and the whole page saved. You can now fix a member's profile for them, in a minute. Next in this series: Set up the activity feed.
