How to add coupons and tax in BuddyNext, step by step. Coupons and tax are BuddyNext Pro features for membership plans. On BuddyNext, then Monetization, then Coupons, add a code with a percent or fixed discount, an optional redemption limit, expiry date and plan scope. Untick Coupon can be used to switch a code off without deleting it. On BuddyNext, then Monetization, then Payment Gateways, the Tax box sets one flat rate with its own label, prices that include tax or not, and per-country rates. At checkout the member enters a code, the discount is taken off, and tax is worked out on the discounted price.

In this tutorial you will add coupons and tax in BuddyNext. A coupon is a code that lowers the price of a membership plan. Tax is one flat rate, added as its own line. You need BuddyNext Pro, with at least one paid membership plan. It takes about four minutes. There are six steps. Open Coupons. Add a coupon. Set its limits. Manage your coupons. Set a flat tax. Then see both at checkout. Step one. Open Coupons. In the WordPress admin, open BuddyNext, Monetization, then Coupons. The table lists every code you have made. Each row shows the Discount, which plans it covers, how many times it was redeemed, when it expires, and whether it is active. Step two. Add a coupon. In Add a coupon, type the Code members will enter. Capitals do not matter. The code is stored in capitals. Under Discount, choose the Type. Percent takes a share off the price. Fixed amount takes off a sum of money. Then type the Amount. Step three. Set its limits. Tick the box under Redemptions and type a number, to cap how many times the code can be used by all members together. Expires is the last day the code works. Leave it empty, and the code never runs out. Under Plan scope, tick the plans the code is for. With none ticked, it works on every plan. Leave Coupon can be used ticked, then click Add coupon. Step four. Manage your coupons. The new code is in the table. Redeemed counts its uses against the limit. Click Edit to change a code. Untick Coupon can be used there, and the code stops working, but stays in the list. This one is switched off, so its Active column shows a dash. Delete takes a code away for good. Step five. Set a flat tax. Tax is on another tab. Open Monetization, then Payment Gateways, and scroll to the box named Tax. Tick Enable tax. Type the Default rate as a percentage, and the Label members will read, such as VAT or Sales tax. Tick Prices include tax if your plan prices already contain it. Unticked, the tax is added on top. With tax added on top, PayPal cannot bill a plan that renews. A country can have its own rate. Type its two letter Country code and a Rate. Then click Save changes. Step six. See both at checkout. Now sign in as a member, and choose a paid plan. The order shows a Coupon box, once your site has a coupon that can be used. The member types a code and clicks Apply. A Discount line appears, and the tax is worked out on the price after the discount. The Total is what the member pays. On a plan that renews, a coupon covers the first payment only. That is all six. Coupons opened, a coupon added, its limits set, your coupons managed, a flat tax set, and both seen at checkout. Your plans can now carry a discount and a clear tax line. Next in this series: Choose your payment gateways.
