In this tutorial you will lock a space to paying members in BuddyNext, so only people on the right plan can join it. You need BuddyNext Pro, with memberships turned on and at least one membership plan. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Open Paywall. Choose the plans that open the space. Write the upgrade prompt. Give one space its own wording. Then check it as a member. Step one. Open Paywall. In your WordPress admin, open BuddyNext, then Monetization, then Paywall. This is a BuddyNext Pro screen. Step two. Choose the plans that open the space. Scroll down to Plans that open a space. Pick the space in the Space list. A space that is already locked is marked currently gated. On a large site, type a name in Find a space. Then tick every plan that should open it. A member on any ticked plan can join. Everyone else sees the upgrade prompt. Know this before you apply. Members who are already in the space, but not on one of those plans, are locked out as well, until they upgrade. Click Apply gate. To open the space again later, untick every plan and click Apply gate. Step three. Write the upgrade prompt. At the top of the same screen, Global defaults set what a locked-out member sees on every gated space. The first field is where the upgrade button points. Leave it blank to use your membership pricing page. Button label is the text on the button. Left empty, it reads Become a Member. Description is your own line, shown under the heading. Then click Save changes. Step four. Give one space its own wording. Per-space overrides lists every gated space, with the plans that open it. Fill a field in a row to change the link, the button or the description for that one space. Leave it blank and the space uses the global defaults. Step five. Check it as a member. Sign in as a member who is not on the plan, and open the gated space. The feed is replaced by the prompt. It names the plan the space needs, and the button leads to your plans. A member on the plan sees the space as normal. One thing to know. A gated space carries no lock badge in the Spaces directory, so say in its description that it is for paying members. That is all five. Paywall opened, the plans chosen, the upgrade prompt written, one space given its own wording, and the result checked as a member. Your space now opens only for members on the plans you chose. Next in this series: Lock a post to paying members.
