How to use BuddyNext with Jetonomy, step by step. With both free plugins active, the Jetonomy card on BuddyNext, then Platform, then Add-ons reads Connected. A new topic in a public forum space appears in the activity feed as a Discussion card, and comments on the card and replies in the forum are kept in step. Every profile gets a Discussions tab with the member's public topics, accepted answers and reputation; private and anonymous topics are never listed. A space owner turns on Discussion under the space's Settings, then Integrations, and the space gets its own Discussions tab. Forum topics are found in community search under the Discussion tab. Site owners choose Show in navigation, Post to the activity feed and Include in search on BuddyNext, then Integration Settings.

In this tutorial you will use BuddyNext with Jetonomy. Jetonomy is the forum. BuddyNext shows its topics in the feed, on profiles, in spaces and in search. You need BuddyNext and Jetonomy. Both are free plugins. It takes about three minutes. There are six steps. Check the connection. Follow topics in the feed. See a member's discussions. Give a space a discussion. Search the forum. Then choose what the integration does. Step one. Check the connection. In the WordPress admin, open BuddyNext, Platform, then Add-ons. With Jetonomy active, its card reads Connected. There is nothing to connect by hand. BuddyNext finds Jetonomy by itself. Step two. Follow topics in the feed. Sign in as a member and open Activity. A new topic in a public forum space appears here as a card marked Discussion. The card shows the title and the first lines. The title opens the topic in the forum. Members can react and comment without leaving the feed. A comment on the card is added to the topic as a reply, and a reply in the forum shows under the card. Step three. See a member's discussions. Every profile gets a tab named Discussions. It lists the public topics that member started in the forum. Private and anonymous topics are never listed. Above the list are three figures from Jetonomy. Accepted answers, Reputation, and the number of Discussions. In the side menu, under You, the link Discussions opens your own tab. Step four. Give a space a discussion. As the owner of a space, open the space, click Settings, then Integrations. The first row is Discussion. It is off for a new space. Turn it on and click Save changes. A forum space is created for this space. A private space gets a private discussion. The space then has a Discussions tab. It lists the topics, and Open in Community takes members into the forum to post. Step five. Search the forum. Forum topics are part of community search. Search for a word, and the results gain a tab named Discussion. Click it, and only the topics that match are listed, each with its title and the lines around the word. A title opens the topic in the forum. Step six. Choose what the integration does. Back in the WordPress admin, open Integration Settings and find the Jetonomy box. Show in navigation adds the Discussions tabs and the side menu link. Post to the activity feed adds the Discussion cards. Include in search adds topics to search. Switching that one off also removes what was indexed. All three start on. Change one, then click Save changes. That is all six. The connection checked, topics followed in the feed, a member's discussions seen, a space given a discussion, the forum searched, and the integration set. Your forum and your community now work as one place. Next in this series: Use BuddyNext with Learnomy.
