In this tutorial you will use BuddyNext with WB Member Blog. Member Blog lets your members write articles without the WordPress admin. BuddyNext shows those articles in the feed and on profiles. You need BuddyNext and WB Member Blog. Both are free plugins. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Check the connection. Read articles in the feed. See a member's articles. Write from your profile. Then choose what the integration does. Step one. Check the connection. In the WordPress admin, open BuddyNext, Platform, then Add-ons. With WB Member Blog active, its card reads Connected. There is nothing to connect by hand. The green line says what it adds. An Articles tab on member profiles, and article cards in the feed. Step two. Read articles in the feed. Sign in as a member. When a member publishes an article, a card marked Article is posted to the activity feed under their name. The card carries the picture, the title and the first lines. Click it to read the whole article on the blog. Like any post, members can react to it, comment on it, and share it, without leaving the feed. Step three. See a member's articles. Every profile gets a tab named Articles. It lists what that member has published. Each one shows its picture, title, date and first lines. Click a title to read the article. Step four. Write from your profile. Open your own Articles tab. Once you have an article, there are two buttons here. Write a new article, and Manage articles. Before your first article there is one button instead, Write your first article. Your own tab also lists your drafts and the articles waiting for review. Visitors only see what is published. Each article on your own tab has an Edit button. It opens that article in the editor. The two buttons above open the Member Blog dashboard. Create Post starts a new article, and the tabs hold your Published posts, Drafts and Pending. Step five. Choose what the integration does. Back in the WordPress admin, open Integration Settings and find the box named Blog posts. Show in navigation adds the Articles tab to profiles. Post to the activity feed adds the Article cards to the feed. Both start on. Change one, then click Save changes. That is all five. The connection checked, articles read in the feed, a member's articles seen, the writing screen found from your profile, and the integration set. Your members now have a blog inside the community. Next in this series: Add custom reactions.
