In this tutorial you will send a broadcast email in BuddyNext. You write one email, choose which members get it, and send it to their inboxes. You need BuddyNext Pro. Broadcast email is a Pro feature. It takes about four minutes. There are six steps. Open Broadcasts. Write the email. Choose who gets it. Test it, then send. Check the recipients. Then see how members opt out. Step one. Open Broadcasts. In the WordPress admin, open BuddyNext, Campaigns, then Broadcasts. All campaigns lists every email you have written, with its Status. A Draft waits until you send it. A Sent campaign stays in the list as your record. Step two. Write the email. Scroll to New campaign. Type a Campaign name. Only you see it. Then type the Subject your members will read. Write the Body. The buttons beside Insert add a merge tag, such as the member's first name, which is filled in for each person. The Live preview underneath shows the finished email, with your logo above it and a sample name in place of the tag. Step three. Choose who gets it. Open the list named Segment. All members, or members of certain spaces, recently active members, members who joined between two dates, or members with a label. Pick one, and a second field appears for the detail. Here, By member label asks which labels. Leave Schedule empty to keep the campaign as a draft. Or pick a date and time, in your site's time zone, and it goes out by itself. Then click Create campaign. It joins the list at the top of the screen. Step four. Test it, then send. On a draft, Send test emails one copy to your own address, with the word test before the subject. Check it in your inbox first. Send now asks you to confirm first, and names who the email goes to. Then every member in the segment is queued, and the emails go out in batches in the background. A campaign can be sent only once. Members who have opted out are skipped. Step five. Check the recipients. Click Recipients on a campaign. It counts how many emails are Queued, Sent, Unsubscribed and Bounced. A member who had opted out is counted under Unsubscribed, and was not emailed. Step six. See how members opt out. Sign in as a member, open Settings, then Notifications. The Channels card has a switch named Newsletters and announcements. With it off, that member gets no broadcast emails. Every broadcast also ends with unsubscribe links, so a member can stop them straight from an email. That is all six. Broadcasts opened, the email written, the members chosen and the campaign saved, a test and the send explained, the recipients checked, and the opt-out seen. You can now reach your members in their inbox, not only on the site. Next in this series: Build a drip email sequence.
