In this tutorial you will feature spaces for new members in BuddyNext, so their first click is one you chose. You need BuddyNext, the free plugin, and at least one space. It takes about two minutes. There are four steps. Open the Directory. Feature a space. Set the order. Then check the directory as a member. Step one. Open the Directory. In your WordPress admin, open BuddyNext, then Spaces, then Directory. The Featured spaces card is at the top. Featured spaces are shown first in the Spaces directory sidebar and in new-member onboarding. You can feature up to six. Private and secret spaces can be featured too. They are only shown to people who can already see them, so a secret space stays secret. Step two. Feature a space. Scroll down to the list of spaces. On the row of the space you want, click the three dots at the end. Then click Feature. It takes effect at once, with no Save button. On a space that is already featured, the same menu says Unfeature. A featured space carries a Featured badge beside its name, and the Featured filter above the list shows only those. Step three. Set the order. Back at the top, the Featured spaces card lists them in the order members see them, top to bottom. Drag a row, or use the up and down arrows, to move a space. The cross takes it out of the featured list. Each change saves as you make it. To add one from here, type its name in Add a space by name, and pick it from the results. Step four. Check the directory as a member. Sign in as a member and open the Spaces page. The Featured card leads the sidebar, in the order you set. They also lead the first page of the main list, ahead of the other spaces, until a member filters the list. On a phone, the same spaces run as a strip above the list. That is all four. The Directory opened, a space featured, the order set, and the directory checked as a member. New members now start in the spaces you picked for them. Next in this series: See a space's numbers.
