Transcript

In this tutorial you will manage the members of a space in BuddyNext: who is in, who is waiting, and who you invite. You need BuddyNext, the free plugin, and a space you own or moderate. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Open the member list. Answer join requests. Invite someone. Remove a member. Then check it as the person waiting. Step one. Open the member list. Open your space and click Members. Each person is shown with a role: Owner, Moderator or Member. In a large space, search by name, or filter the list by role. Step two. Answer join requests. In a Private space, every join is a request. Click Moderation, then Pending members. Each person waiting is listed with the time they asked. Approve makes them a full member. Decline takes the request off the list, and they are not added. You and your moderators can both answer requests. Look at this list often, so nobody is left waiting. Step three. Invite someone. On the space, click Invite. Type the username the person logs in with, or their email address. Then click Send invite. The person is not a member yet. They stay invited until they accept. Step four. Remove a member. Open Settings, then Members. Each member has a row with three buttons. Make moderator, Remove, and Ban. Remove takes the person out of this space only. Their account and their other spaces are untouched, and they can ask to join again. Ban also blocks them from coming back, until you unban them. Step five. Check it as the person waiting. Sign in as someone who asked to join. Their button reads Request pending. Until you approve them, they can read the About tab only. Once you approve, the feed opens and they can take part. That is all five. The member list opened, join requests answered, an invite covered, removing a member covered, and the result checked as the person waiting. You now control who is in your space, and who gets in next. Next in this series: Add a moderator and set who can post.
