How to react to a post in BuddyNext, step by step. Under a post, click React and pick a reaction. Each member has one reaction on a post: a different one replaces it, and the same one again removes it. Click the row of counts to see who reacted. The site owner chooses which reactions are on offer under BuddyNext, then Engagement, then Social, and switches the feature on or off under BuddyNext, then Platform, then Features.

In this tutorial you will react to a post in BuddyNext, and choose which reactions your members can use. You need BuddyNext, the free plugin. Reactions are on from the start, with six to choose from. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Choose the reactions on offer. Check reactions are on. React to a post. Change or remove your reaction. Then see who reacted. Step one. Choose the reactions on offer. In your WordPress admin, open BuddyNext, then Engagement, then Social, and scroll to Reactions. Every reaction has a tick box. The free plugin has six. Like, Love, Haha, Wow, Sad and Angry. This site has three more, Fire, Ship it and Watching, which were added with BuddyNext Pro. Untick one, and members can no longer pick it. If you untick them all, every reaction stays on. This list cannot switch reactions off. Step two. Check reactions are on. The switch for the whole feature is under BuddyNext, then Platform, then Features. Find Reactions. It is on by default. Switch it off, and the React button and the row of counts are removed from posts and comments. Step three. React to a post. Sign in as a member, and find a post. Under it, click React. A row of reactions opens. Click one, and it is counted at once. Here we only point at it. This member sees six reactions, because the site sells membership plans, and its Free plan offers the first six. Step four. Change or remove your reaction. You have one reaction on each post. Open the row again, and click a different one. It is not clicked here, but your reaction would change, and the count would stay the same. Click the one you already chose, and your reaction is removed. Again, we only point. Off screen, the author is notified the first time you react to their post. Changing or removing it later sends nothing more, and does not take that notice back. Step five. See who reacted. Above the buttons, each post shows its most used reactions with a count. Click that row. A list opens with each person who reacted, and the reaction they chose. Comments work the same way. Each comment has its own React button, with the same reactions. That is all five. The reactions on offer chosen, the feature checked, a post reacted to, a reaction changed or removed, and the list of who reacted opened. Your members can now answer a post in one click, with the reactions you chose. Next in this series: Comment on a post.
