In this tutorial you will use BuddyNext with WPMediaVerse. Together they give your members media in posts, galleries on profiles and in spaces, and private messages. You need BuddyNext and WPMediaVerse. Both are free plugins. One thing shown needs WPMediaVerse Pro, and the voice says which. It takes about three minutes. There are six steps. Check the connection. Share media in a post. Keep media on a profile. Send direct messages. Give a space a gallery. Then choose what the integration does. Step one. Check the connection. In the WordPress admin, open BuddyNext, Platform, then Add-ons. With WPMediaVerse active, the MediaVerse card reads Connected. There is nothing to connect by hand. BuddyNext finds WPMediaVerse by itself, and the card lists what it adds. Step two. Share media in a post. Sign in as a member and open Activity. The first button under the post box, the picture, adds a photo, a video or audio. A post takes up to four files. Each file is uploaded as you choose it, and the post itself is published when you click Post. Step three. Keep media on a profile. Every profile gets a Media tab. Under it are two sub-tabs. Media, for everything the member has shared, and Albums. On your own profile there is an upload box as well. Drag files here, photos, video or audio, up to ten at once. Step four. Send direct messages. Messages, in the side menu, is private messaging between members. The page is BuddyNext. The messages are kept by WPMediaVerse. New message, under the list, starts a conversation with any member. With WPMediaVerse Pro, the same box has a second tab, New group, for a conversation with several members. Step five. Give a space a gallery. As the owner of a space, open the space, click Settings, then Integrations. Find the row named Media tab. It is off for a new space. Turn it on and click Save changes, and the space gets its own Media tab, where members share photos and videos with that space. Step six. Choose what the integration does. Back in the WordPress admin, open Integration Settings and find the Media box. Show in navigation adds the Media tabs. Post to the activity feed lets media uploaded in WPMediaVerse appear in the community feed. Both start on. Change one, then click Save changes. One more choice is under Settings, General. Media links. A link to a photo can open the post it was shared in, or a dedicated media page. That is all six. The connection checked, media shared in a post, media kept on a profile, direct messages found, a space given a gallery, and the integration set. Photos, video and private messages are now part of your community. Next in this series: Send community events to other apps.
