In this tutorial you will set up member login in BuddyNext. Members sign in on a page of your own site, with your own look. You need BuddyNext, the free plugin. The login page is there from the start. It takes about three minutes. There are four steps. Open the login settings. Choose where members land. Check the login page. Then reset a forgotten password. Step one. Open the login settings. In your WordPress admin, open BuddyNext, then Members, then Registration and Login. Login shares this page with sign-up. Scroll to Login and Sign-up Panel. Show the branding panel is on. It puts a panel with your own words beside the login form. Under it are the Panel heading, the Panel tagline, a Featured quote, and a Panel banner image for the background. Step two. Choose where members land. Further down the same page is Redirects. After login is empty, so a member who signs in goes to the activity feed. Enter a page of your site here to send them there instead. A member who came to the login page from another page of your site goes back to that page. After logout is empty too. A member who signs out goes to your login page, ready to sign back in. Step three. Check the login page. Open your site in a private window, so you are signed out, and click Log in. The panel is on the left, and the form is on the right. A member types their email or their username, then their password. Show lets them read the password as they type. Remember me keeps them signed in on this device after the browser is closed. Then they click Sign in. After ten tries in fifteen minutes, the form asks them to wait a few minutes. A network address on your blocked list cannot sign in at all. Step four. Reset a forgotten password. Under the password field is a link, Forgot password. Click it. The member types their email or username, and clicks Send reset link. The same message shows whether or not an account matches, so the form never tells a stranger who is a member. The link in the email opens a page on your own site, where they choose a new password. That is all four. The login settings opened, the landing page chosen, the login page checked, and a forgotten password reset. Your members now sign in on your own site, and land where you want them. Next in this series: Require email verification.
