How to add custom reactions in BuddyNext, step by step. Custom reactions are a BuddyNext Pro feature. On BuddyNext, then Engagement, then Reactions you pick an emoji, give it a label and click Add reaction; the arrows set the order and Remove takes one away, along with the reactions members gave with it. The built-in six and your own can add up to twenty. Which reactions are on offer is the tick list on Engagement, then Social. If you sell membership plans, Reactions Set Size on a plan sets how many its members can use.

In this tutorial you will add custom reactions in BuddyNext, so members can answer a post with more than the six reactions that come built in. You need BuddyNext Pro. Custom reactions are a Pro feature. It takes about three minutes. There are six steps. Open Reactions. Add a reaction. Order or remove them. Choose which are on offer. Give each plan its share. Then see it as a member. Step one. Open Reactions. In the WordPress admin, open BuddyNext, Engagement, then Reactions. The first box shows the six Default reactions. Like, Love, Haha, Wow, Sad and Angry. Under it, Current custom reactions lists the ones you have added. This site has three. Fire, Ship it, and Watching. Step two. Add a reaction. Scroll to the box named Add a reaction. First pick an Emoji from the grid. The Label fills in by itself. It is the name members see for this reaction, and you can type your own. Then click Add reaction. It is added at once, at the end of the list. Built in and custom together, a site can have twenty. Past that, adding is refused. Step three. Order or remove them. In Current custom reactions, the arrows under Order move a reaction up or down. That is the order members see them in, after the built in six. Remove takes a reaction away, and asks first. The reactions members already gave with it are deleted too. Step four. Choose which are on offer. Open Social, in the same Engagement menu, and scroll to Reactions. Every reaction, built in or custom, has a tick box here. The custom ones are listed by the labels you gave them. Fire, Ship it, and Watching. Untick one and members can no longer pick it. Tick it again to bring it back. Then click Save changes. Step five. Give each plan its share. If you sell membership plans, open Monetization, Plans, and edit a plan. Find Reactions Set Size. It is how many reactions members on this plan can use, counted from the start of the list. Site administrators are never limited. Step six. See it as a member. Sign in as a member whose plan allows more than six. Under any post, click React. The row opens with the built in six, then the custom ones in your order. Fire, Ship it, and Watching. One click on a reaction counts it on the post, the same as the built in ones. Here it is only pointed at. That is all six. Reactions opened, a reaction added, the list ordered, the reactions on offer chosen, each plan given its share, and the result seen as a member. Your community now reacts in its own words. Next in this series: Label your members.
