Create a sequence with a name and a trigger: Member sign-up, Onboarding completed, or Manual. Click Edit steps and add one step per email, each with the day after joining it goes out on, a subject and a body with merge tags. Steps are sent in the order listed. A new sequence starts Disabled; click Enable when it is ready. BuddyNext checks about once an hour and sends each member one email at a time. Disable pauses a sequence without losing anyone's place, and members who turn off Newsletters and announcements are skipped.

In this tutorial you will build a drip email sequence in BuddyNext. A sequence is a short series of emails that each new member receives, a few days apart. You need BuddyNext Pro. Drip sequences are a Pro feature. It takes about three minutes. There are six steps. Open Drip Sequences. Create a sequence. Add the emails. Change an email. Switch it on. Then see how members opt out. Step one. Open Drip Sequences. In the WordPress admin, open BuddyNext, Campaigns, then Drip Sequences. All sequences lists each one. A row shows the name, the Trigger that starts it, how many Steps it has, and its Status. Step two. Create a sequence. In New sequence, type a Sequence name. Then open Trigger, and choose what starts it. Member sign-up starts when an account is made. Onboarding completed starts when a member finishes onboarding. Manual enrolls nobody by itself. A developer adds members through the API. Then click Create sequence. A new sequence starts Disabled, so nothing is sent while you build it. Step three. Add the emails. On the row of your sequence, click Edit steps. Each step is one email. In Add step, set Days after joining. That is the day this email goes out, counted from the day the member joined the sequence. Zero sends it on the next run. Type the Subject and the Body. Both are needed. The Insert buttons add merge tags, and the Live preview shows the result. Then click Add step, under the preview. Step four. Change an email. The table at the top lists the steps in the order they are sent. Schedule shows the day each one goes out. Click Edit on a step to open it. Change the day, the Subject or the Body, then click Save changes. Delete removes the step, after asking you first. Step five. Switch it on. Back in All sequences, click Enable on the row. From then on, every member who meets the trigger is enrolled. BuddyNext checks about once an hour, and sends each member one email at a time, in order. Disable pauses a sequence. Nobody new is enrolled, nothing is sent, and members keep their place until you enable it again. Step six. See how members opt out. Sign in as a member, open Settings, then Notifications. A member who turns off Newsletters and announcements gets no sequence emails. They keep their place in the sequence, so it carries on if they turn the switch back on. That is all six. Drip Sequences opened, a sequence created, the emails added, an email changed, the sequence switched on, and the opt-out seen. Every new member now gets a proper welcome, on schedule. Next in this series: Add coupons and tax.
