In this tutorial you will label your members in BuddyNext. A label is a small coloured tag beside a member's name, such as Staff or Expert. You need BuddyNext Pro. Member labels are a Pro feature. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Open Labels. Add a label. Assign it to members. Or assign it on a member. Then see labels on the site. Step one. Open Labels. In the WordPress admin, open BuddyNext, Members, then Labels. Three labels come with BuddyNext Pro. Verified, Expert and Staff. Each row shows the name, the colour, the icon, and how many members carry the label. Edit changes a label. Delete removes it from every member. Step two. Add a label. Scroll to Add new label. Type a Slug, in lowercase letters with hyphens, and the Name members will see. Pick a Color. The Icon is optional. It takes the name of an icon, such as star or flag. Sort order decides which label comes first. Then click Add label, and it joins the table at the top. Step three. Assign it to members. In the box Assign labels to members, type a name and click the member in the list. The member is added under the box, with the labels they already carry. Add as many members as you like. Choose the Label, then click Assign to selected. It is given to every member in the list at once. Step four. Or assign it on a member. Open Members, Directory, and click Edit on a member. Scroll to the box named Labels. Tick a label to give it to this member, and untick it to take it away. The labels are saved with the profile, when you click Save changes. Step five. See labels on the site. Sign in as a member and open the profile. The label sits beside the name, in its colour. It follows the member around the community. On their posts and comments, on their card in the member list, and in search. Up to three labels show beside a name. Members cannot choose their own. Only an administrator gives one. That is all five. Labels opened, a label added, the label assigned to members, the same done on a member, and the labels seen on the site. Your trusted members now stand out wherever they post. Next in this series: Add advanced profile fields.
