In this tutorial you will send renewal reminders in BuddyNext. Members get an email a few days before their membership renews or ends, so no charge comes as a surprise. You need BuddyNext Pro, with at least one paid membership plan. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Open Subscriptions. Switch reminders on. Choose the days. Edit the two emails. Then see the member's choice. Step one. Open Subscriptions. In the WordPress admin, open BuddyNext, Monetization, then Subscriptions. The list of subscribers comes first. Scroll down, past the list, to the box named Renewal reminders. Step two. Switch reminders on. Tick Send reminders. A new site starts with it ticked. A site that updated from an older version starts with it unticked, so nothing is sent until you decide. BuddyNext then checks every subscription once a day, in the background. Step three. Choose the days. Days before is a list of numbers with commas between them. Thirty, seven, one sends a reminder thirty days, seven days and one day before the date. A number as long as the plan's own billing period is skipped for that plan. A monthly plan gets the seven day and one day reminders, not the thirty day one. Each reminder is sent once. Then click Save changes. Step four. Edit the two emails. Open Notifications, then Email Templates, and scroll the list to the group named Membership. Two templates do this work. Membership renewing soon goes to a member whose plan will be charged again. It gives the date and the amount. Membership ending soon goes to a member who cancelled, or bought a one-time plan. It says when access stops. Members with a lifetime plan, or a payment already overdue, get neither. Step five. See the member's choice. Sign in as a member, open Settings, then Notifications. Membership ending soon has email choices, so a member can turn that email off. Membership renewing soon has none. Its row reads Always emailed. That email always goes out, because it warns of a charge. That is all five. Subscriptions opened, reminders switched on, the days chosen, the two emails seen, and the member's choice checked. Your members now hear from you before a renewal, not after. Next in this series: Put your own brand on the admin.
