In this tutorial you will give a space a media gallery in BuddyNext: a Media tab for its photos and videos, with albums of its own. You need BuddyNext, the free plugin, and a current version of MediaVerse, the free media plugin, both active. You also need a space you own. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Check MediaVerse is connected. Turn on the Media tab. Decide who can create albums. See the gallery as a member. Then make an album. Step one. Check MediaVerse is connected. The gallery comes from the MediaVerse plugin. In your WordPress admin, open BuddyNext, then Integration Settings, and scroll to the Media card. The card is only here while MediaVerse is active, and its badge reads Active. If it reads Update needed, your MediaVerse is older than this integration needs, and the card names the version to update to. Keep Show in navigation switched on. With it off, no space shows a Media tab, whatever its own setting says. Step two. Turn on the Media tab. On your site, open a space you own, click Settings, then Integrations. Find the row named Media tab. It is off for a new space. Turn the switch on, and click Save changes in the bar at the bottom. Only the space owner can change this. Step three. Decide who can create albums. Further down the same tab is Only organisers can create albums. When off, any member can create an album in this space. Turn it on, and only the owner and moderators can. Members can always add photos to an album that already exists. Step four. See the gallery as a member. Sign in as a member and open a space with its Media tab turned on. Media is now in the tab row. Click it. The tab has two views, Media and Albums. Media is the grid of photos and videos shared to the space, and members add more by dropping files here. This space is Private, so only its members see the gallery. In an Open space, anyone who can see the space can see it. Step five. Make an album. Click Albums. Each album of this space is shown with its cover and a count of items. Click New album, and give it a name and a description. There is no privacy choice. Who can see the album is decided by the space. Then click Create. Open an album to see what is in it. Add media puts more photos in. The member who made the album, and the owner and moderators of the space, can also edit or delete it. That is all five. MediaVerse checked, the Media tab turned on, album creation decided, the gallery seen as a member, and an album covered. Your space now has a gallery of its own. Next in this series: Feature spaces for new members.
