How to see your notifications in BuddyNext, step by step. The bell in the header counts what is new and opens your latest notifications. The Notifications page keeps the full list, newest first, grouped into Today, Yesterday and Older, with tabs to filter by Unread, Mentions, Comments, Reactions, Spaces, Follows and Messages. Repeated events on the same post are merged into one row. Open or Mark as read keeps a notification in the list; Dismiss removes it; Mark all read clears every unread one. Select turns on a tick box per row, to delete several at once.

In this tutorial you will see your notifications in BuddyNext. A notification tells a member that someone did something that involves them. You need BuddyNext, the free plugin. Notifications are on from the start. It takes about three minutes. There are six steps. Open the bell. Open the Notifications page. Filter the list. Mark as read or dismiss. Delete several at once. Then find your preferences. Step one. Open the bell. Sign in as a member. The bell is in the header on every page, and the number on it counts what is new since you last looked. Click the bell, and your latest notifications open under it. Opening it clears the number, but marks nothing as read. An orange dot marks each one you have not read. At the top is Mark all as read, and at the bottom, See all notifications. Step two. Open the Notifications page. Click See all notifications, or Notifications in the side menu. The heading shows how many are unread. The list is newest first, grouped as Today, Yesterday and Older. A group with nothing in it is left out. Each row says who did what, and how long ago, with a label for the kind of notification. Step three. Filter the list. Above it are tabs. All, Unread, Mentions, Comments, Reactions, Spaces, Follows, and Messages. Click Reactions, and only reactions are listed. The page does not reload. Notice the first row. Nine people reacted to the same post, and they are merged into one notification, not nine. Step four. Mark as read or dismiss. Every unread row has two buttons on the right. Open takes you to the post, profile or space, and marks the row read. Mark as read does the same without leaving the page. A read notification stays in your list. The small cross is Dismiss. It removes the notification for good. And at the top of the page, Mark all read clears every unread notification in one click. Step five. Delete several at once. Above the list is a button, Select. Click it, and every row gets a tick box. Tick the rows you no longer need, or tick Select all for everything on this page. A count beside it shows how many are chosen. Then click Delete. A box asks you to confirm, because deleted notifications cannot be brought back. Cancel leaves the list as it was. Step six. Find your preferences. Beside Mark all read is a link, Notification preferences. It opens the Notifications tab of your Settings, where you choose which kinds of notification reach you, and whether they come by email. That is all six. The bell opened, the Notifications page opened, the list filtered, rows marked as read or dismissed, several deleted at once, and your preferences found. You now know where everything that involves you is waiting. Next in this series: Choose your notification preferences.
