What You Can Build
Free & ProBuddyNext is a toolkit, not a single fixed product - the same feed, spaces, profiles, and membership pieces combine into very different communities. This page shows the common shapes people build, and which features each one leans on, so you can recognise the one closest to your goal and jump to the parts that matter.
Each blueprint names whether it runs on Free alone or needs Pro for a key piece. Most start on Free and add Pro when they begin to charge or scale.
Creator or audience community
A home for the people who follow your work - a place they post, discuss, and get to know each other, instead of renting the relationship from a social platform.
- Core: the Activity Feed, Following, and a few topic Spaces.
- Keep it lively with Gamification and Announcements.
- Runs on Free. Add Pro when you want to charge or email your audience.
Paid membership community
The same community, but access to some or all of it is a paid subscription - your recurring revenue lives here.
- Core: Membership Plans, Stripe Payments, and Gated Spaces.
- Follow the recipe: Launch a Paid Community; understand the options in Ways to Make Money.
- Needs Pro for the money features.
Course or cohort community
A learning space where discussion wraps around your courses, and access is tied to enrolment or a plan.
- Core: Spaces per course or cohort, gated with Gated Spaces, and the Learnomy integration for the courses themselves.
- Reward progress with Gamification; keep cohorts private with Space Types and Privacy.
- Free for the community and courses; Pro if you gate by paid plan.
Brand or customer community
A support-and-belonging space around a product - customers help each other, share how they use it, and hear from your team first.
- Core: the Activity Feed, product Spaces, and strong Moderation.
- Recognise power users with Member Labels; reach everyone with Broadcast Email.
- Runs on Free; Pro adds labels, email, and scale moderation.
Professional or interest network
A place people build a profile, connect, and find each other by what they do or care about - closer to a niche LinkedIn than a feed.
- Core: rich Member Profiles with Profile Fields, Connections, and the Member Directory.
- Add a jobs board with Career Board; mark expertise with Member Labels.
- Runs on Free; Pro adds advanced fields, search, and labels.
Agency or client workspaces
Private, branded spaces you run for clients - each client sees only their own space, and the whole thing carries your brand, not ours.
- Core: private and secret spaces, White-label, and Space Branding.
- Follow the recipes: Run a Private Client Space and Make It Fully Your Own.
- Needs Pro for white-label and per-space branding.
Internal or team community
A members-only space for a company, association, or group - announcements, discussion, and a directory behind the login.
- Core: closed registration (invite or approval), secret spaces, and the Member Directory.
- Keep everyone current with Notifications and Broadcast Email.
- Runs on Free; Pro adds email, real-time, and analytics.
Bring the wider suite in
Any of these can grow to include events, listings, or a job board by connecting the rest of the Wbcom suite through Pro - see Suite Portfolio and the Integrations Overview.
